The mission of the Nebraska Bird Partnership is to promote a coordinated, science-based, landscape approach to voluntary land stewardship that will conserve, improve, and expand habitat for all bird species. An ecosystem-based approach is supported through partnerships that respect the importance of sustainable communities and are unified by a common need for communication, education, and a broader appreciation for the diversity of bird habitats and associated bird species within Nebraska. Since 2003, the NBP Capacity Building Grant Program advances this mission by increasing the ability of local conservation efforts to establish and achieve measurable conservation objectives.
The purpose of the NBP Capacity Building Grant Program is to provide funding for strategic conservation planning, implementation, monitoring, and/or education projects in accordance with the NBP mission. Capacity Building funds should ultimately serve to develop capacity that will allow entities to continue conservation planning, implementation, and monitoring into the future without relying on Capacity Building funds. Because these funds are used to build capacity, they are offered with minimal matching requirements so as not to further encumber entities striving to develop capacity.
The application deadline for 2011 grants was July 2, 2010. The NBP Grants Committee is now reviewing applications.
