Awards

john dinanThe purpose of the NBP Awards Program is to recognize the individuals and organizations whose leadership and dedication to bird conservation serve as inspiration for others.

The first NBP Awards Ceremony, held in 2006, was dedicated to the memory of John Dinan, whose extraordinary achievements for the conservation of Nebraska’s birds left an enduring legacy.  John worked for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for 28 years, and served as the Non-game Bird Program Manager from 1994 until his passing in 2005. John’s commitment to the preservation of all birds, and his wisdom in understanding that conservation can only succeed when good science is combined with engaging people who care about birds and are impacted by conservation efforts, inspired him to help found the NBP in 2002.
