The Capacity Building Grant Program provides capacity-building assistance to local and regional conservation groups across Nebraska. Small or relatively new conservation groups often have unique opportunities to address the habitat needs in their area, but lack financial resources to fully accomplish their goals. Since 2003, the Nebraska Bird Partnership has awarded $469,500 to 35 projects across the state.
Funding can be applied to strategic planning, implementation, monitoring, or education projects in accordance with the NBP mission. Capacity Building funds should ultimately serve to develop capacity that will allow entities to continue these activities into the future without relying on Capacity Building funds. Grants are offered with minimal matching requirements so as not to further encumber entities striving to develop capacity.
