It should come as no surprise that children today are spending less time in nature. To help reverse this trend and teach children of all ages about Nebraska's bird resources, the Nebraska Bird Partnership Education Workgroup established the Bridge to Birding program. This program offers birding kits available for FREE check-out.
Each kit includes 20 pairs of 8x21 binoculars, 15 Birds of Nebraska field guides, a Flying WILD Curriculum & Activity guide, and a binder of Nebraska-specific bird information. Nine kits are available throughout Nebraska; kits are available for 2-weeks at a time and are FREE to check out.
In addition to the kits, the Education Workgroup is also planning two educator workshops designed to teach educators how to incorporate birds into their classroom curriculum.
Funds for the kits and educator workshops were provided by the Nebraska Bird Partnership Capacity Building Grant Program. |
